Mr. Marshal, hello.

Through the wonders of the Internet I am able to ask a question that has been vexing me for years: Is it possible to get the recipe for Au Petit Cafe's vaunted Vermouth Cassis concoction?

My wife and her girlfriends used to dine there -- more accurately, lunch -- once a week, for many years. She loved it (we met shortly before it closed; sadly, I never dined there), and still talks about the food, the staff, the ambiance.

If I could come up with Vermouth Cassis mix, I would be a king in her eyes -- as you already are.

Fingers crossed!

i went by Luau on opening weekend as my Beverly Hills neighbors and I are always hoping for a local fun hit...unfortunaltly this is definitly not it! They were rude, tacky and there were more bag rugs on the heads of there in sweaty "in crowd" then at ABC Carpets! i hope the owners wake up and realize what this area needs and make some quick changes across the board - they should take lessons from GJELINA in Venice on how to open a restaurant -or call me for a free consultation! good luck. lafinds@aol.com

If you think this concept has not been represented in LA, you should take a trip around the corner to LA classic, Nan Ban Kan on Santa Monica Blvd near Sawtelle and have some yakatori there. Their menu includes about anything that can be grilled, included shiso wrapped chicken, to bacon wrapped asparagus and from ginko nuts to quail eggs - the list goes on and on - and lots of seasonal seafood. I have been going to Nan Ban Kan for about 20 years and have had a consistently good experience every time.

Hi Kit,

Thank you for your mention of the IndoChine Group on your blog.

We have in fact a total of 5 venues in Singapore - Empress Place, Wisma Atria, Club Street, Holland Village (Siem Reap 1) and Clarke Quay (The Forbidden City).

Hopefully you'll get the chance to visit each of these venues =)

Best Regards,

Trina Chan
